hello@vernonwintercarnival.com

Dear Jacqueline,

Vernon Winter Carnival has brought the community together since 1961. Your new website should reflect the festival’s energy while making it easier for visitors to find events, participate and support the Carnival—and easier for your staff to manage everything year-round.

We propose rebuilding the website from the ground up around your current priorities and future goals, bringing forward the content that earns its place in the new experience.

Our recommendation combines Squarespace with Timely for a clear, manageable website and event calendar. The fixed project investment is $11,800 CAD + GST, before any agreed sponsorship contribution.

A fresh website built around your next chapter.

Sincerely,Lesia PayneOwner & UX Director

Our approach

Squarespace + Timely.
A confident foundation.

We recommend Squarespace for your website and Timely for your event calendar and ticketing.

This combination gives the Carnival an approachable website editing platform alongside a dedicated system for presenting and managing events. Timely’s calendar features, filtering and registration options make it a strong fit for a festival with a varied community program.

During our initial deep dive, we’ll confirm the features and subscription level that best suit your needs. Other options can be discussed if a specific requirement calls for them.

01DiscoverGoals, audiences and needs
02DefineContent and website structure
03DesignBrand, content and build
04DeliverTest, launch and train
One coordinated website launch

A clear scope.
A purposeful rebuild.

Up to 20 core pages, a dedicated event calendar and practical tools your staff can maintain.

01Goals-led discovery and focused content review+

What are the Carnival’s top three goals over the next three years?

Drawing on Lesia’s UX degree and web design experience, we’ll establish what the website needs to accomplish for your organization, your visitors and your staff. With those priorities clear, we’ll review the existing website and its reported collection of 180+ pages and PDFs to identify the information worth bringing forward.

  • A focused discussion about your goals, audiences and current frustrations.
  • A review of the content and features needed to support those goals.
  • Recommendations for a simpler website structure and practical event-management setup.
  • Identification of important existing URLs that need appropriate replacement destinations.

The result will be a clear direction for the new website and an agreed selection of content to retain or refresh. Older material that no longer supports the Carnival’s needs can be left behind, with relevant redirects implemented where appropriate. This scope focuses on decisions that support the rebuild, rather than an exhaustive historical archive or document-by-document report.

02A fresh design with simpler navigation+

Create a welcoming, mobile-friendly website that captures the Carnival’s personality and helps visitors find what matters. The design will provide clear pathways to events, participation opportunities and essential information. We’ll develop the navigation during discovery, based on the goals we establish together.

Consistent layouts, readable text and clear calls to action will help the website feel cohesive and easy to use across phones, tablets and desktop screens.

03An event schedule powered by Timely+

Integrate and style Timely to make the Carnival’s program easier to browse and maintain.

  • Clear event listings and mobile-friendly presentation.
  • Useful browsing and filtering options.
  • Consistent dates, locations, descriptions and booking links.
  • Clear presentation of free, paid and externally ticketed events.
  • Reusable event structures that staff can update each year.

We’ll select the appropriate configuration during discovery.

04Ticketing and form integrations+

Configure the selected ticketing and form tools so visitors can take the next step easily. We’ll connect the agreed services, check their presentation within the website and test the integrations from a user’s perspective—including finding an event, following its booking process and submitting a form.

The scope includes standard form setup or supported integrations, confirmation messages and checks that submissions reach the appropriate staff member.

05Easy year-round editing for staff+

Your staff should feel comfortable keeping the website current without needing a designer for every change. We’ll build reusable layouts and provide practical guidance for updating text, images, sponsor information, application details and event content.

Training will focus on the tasks your team performs most often, including preparing for a new Carnival season and removing outdated information. The design will use clear layouts and readable content. An optional accessibility tool from accessiBe can also be considered at an additional cost, without treating it as a guarantee of full-site accessibility.

06SEO and launch preparation+

The emphasis will be on serving your community and supporting the Carnival’s goals, with a sensible level of search preservation during the rebuild.

  • Page-specific meta descriptions.
  • Alternative text for supplied images.
  • Agreed URL redirects to relevant replacement content, where supported.

We’ll also check mobile layouts, navigation, forms and event integrations before launch.

Project timing

3–4 months.
Planned together.

A website of this scale can typically be completed within 3–4 months of the project start date, depending on client availability, content readiness and holidays.

We’ll plan around the Carnival’s January–February busy period and agree on a realistic launch date at the outset. Timely feedback and early decisions on content and integrations will help keep the project moving.

Lesia Design & Digital is a boutique firm that takes on work with care and attention. We’ll establish the schedule together and adjust as needed as the project progresses.
